Building today for a sustainable future

Extending the life of our devices

At One Step GPS, sustainability starts with our products. We loan our GPS devices to customers, and when they stop service, we encourage the return of these units.

This practice allows us to refurbish and recycle the devices, significantly extending their lifespan.

By reducing e-waste and keeping perfectly functional units out of landfills, we minimize our environmental footprint and promote a circular economy.

Powered by renewable energy

Our servers are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which reached a major milestone in 2023 by matching 100% of its electricity consumed with renewable energy.

AWS' commitment to achieving Amazon's goal of net-zero carbon by 2040 aligns perfectly with our own sustainability objectives, making them a key partner in our journey towards a greener future.

Responsible disposal of hardware

We ensure that all outdated or non-functioning hardware is sent to certified e-waste recyclers, who responsibly manage and recycle these materials.

This process not only reduces the volume of waste going to landfills but also recovers valuable materials for reuse.

Eco-friendly packaging

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our packaging. We use eco-friendly materials, including recycled cardboard boxes, which are easier to recycle than plastic alternatives.

Nearly our entire array of shipping envelopes has been switched to sustainable packaging options provided by USPS and FedEx.

These products include materials made from up to 92% recycled content, curbside recyclable packs, and items produced through sustainable manufacturing processes. We are also actively exploring the best options to offset our carbon footprint associated with shipping. We also ask our suppliers to switch to sustainable packaging and remove plastics whenever possible.

Supporting fleet sustainability

For companies with fleets, we offer comprehensive reporting tools that help organizations evaluate their environmental impact.

Our reports provide key data such as average miles driven per day, the number of days a week a vehicle is used, and more. These insights are crucial for determining when to transition to electric vehicles (EVs) or hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).

Additionally, we have partnered with Swatch Labs, which offers a robust solution for fleets committed to their climate pledges, including EV analytics, cost and saving analysis, and emissions reporting.

Reducing emissions through driving behavior and route optimization

We empower our customers to reduce their carbon emissions through advanced reporting and alerts that monitor aggressive driving habits, idling, and route efficiency.

Our tools provide detailed route history and optimization recommendations, helping fleets minimize unnecessary travel and reduce CO2 emissions. Additionally, we partner with Route4Me, a route efficiency provider dedicated to reducing CO2 emissions since 2010.

Encouraging remote work to reduce carbon footprint

At One Step GPS, we believe in leading by example. By promoting remote work and hybrid roles for the majority of our sales, support, and software teams, we significantly reduce the carbon emissions associated with daily commuting and business travel.

This initiative is a core part of our strategy to minimize our operational carbon footprint.
