"It was easy to use their API to integrate their GPS system (with geofences) with our in-house (Inductive Automation based) weighbridge/truckscale software. After development was complete (less than a week because their platform is so easy to use and access), it was super easy to send in the OBDII devices (used for development) for 7-way trailer mount devices. They even sent a prepaid envelope for returning devices used for development. Very satisfied with the included features, service, and helpful customer support. You won't regret choosing One Step GPS." — S.L.

Our most common GPS tracking device is our plugin GPS tracker. It's simple to install (plug it into your vehicle's OBD port), easily hidden, and provides the greatest range of data points to support your business, including:
  • Real-time visibility of all your vehicles
  • Driver behavior (such as speeding, harsh braking, aggressive driving)
  • All Routes driven and every stop made.
  • Live engine diagnostics code readouts.
  • Engine data - Fuel Levels, RPMs, True Odometer, Coolant temp, etc.
  • Scheduled maintenance reminders.
  • Geofence alerts for driving outside defined boundaries.
  • After-hours usage alerts.
  • Tamper alerts if the device is disconnected.
It is not recommended. The devices need to be protected from the elements, road salt, and debris to keep them in good working condition. They are easily hidden and nearly undetectable if you're concerned about someone finding or tampering with the device. They also issue an alert in case of disconnection.Further, our devices have a backup battery, so if they are disconnected and remain in the vehicle, they can still transmit location information.

Or you can wire a device in and hide it pretty much anywhere within 3 feet of your electric connection.Examples are under the driver's seat, headliner, and above the fuel tank. etc.Our US-based specialists are available by phone, chat, or email to assist you with the installation at any time.S.C. mentioned:"I am really satisfied with the overall service and product. This product is perfect for us, no contract and a great price. The devices are easy to hide and install, the tracking software is user friendly and allows you full control of your alerts. The support and customer service have been great, easy to contact and quick turn around on calls."
From our experience with thousands of fleets, the best practice is to include your drivers from the beginning. Let them know that the devices will be installed, what information they gather, and why it benefits both the company and the driver.A well-implemented tracking program that encourages drivers and focuses on rewarding them for improving driving habits can inspire the entire team and achieve better safety, fuel efficiency, and productivity fleet-wide, rather than a punishment tool.Tracking devices significantly impact fleet safety and can reduce accidents, which benefits you and the driver.GPS and dashcams can exonerate drivers against false claims and save their reputations and even their careers. To create a safe environment for your team, ensure drivers are fully aware of company policy so they know what is and isn't acceptable. Clarify policy, if needed, so there is no room for confusion or misinterpretation.Include drivers in the planning and implementation process. Let them know how the program will roll out, what the process will be like, what changes they can expect, and when.Even when you take all the care you can to include and engage your drivers, the occasional person will still object.Almost one-for-one, these are the drivers with something to hide:
  • Using company vehicles for personal use
  • Padding time by taking odd routes or making excessive personal stops
  • Driving recklessly in company vehicles
These things and more occur in fleets. If someone harshly objects or even quits their job over a well-implemented program, good. It's better for you not to have the liability of a dangerous or criminal driver on your hands. Please keep in mind that some states require disclosure of tracking devices to employees, so be sure to check the applicable laws in any jurisdiction which your company operates.
